The Clock Is Ticking

The grand finale of season five was on last night and what a show it was. The sting operation by Jack on President Logan was predictable but it was a fitting end for him. but this year unlike other seasons which tend to wrap everything up nice and neatly except for the sting in the tale. e.g. season one, Teri dies in Jacks arms, season two, President Palmer is poisoned, Season three Jack breaks down over the events of the day, season four, Jack goes off into the sun set leaving his life and friends behind.

But in season five, yes there is a sting, Jack gets captured by the chinese and is on his way to Shanghi. but there are questions not answered. Like what was motavating Henderson, was he just bad or did he really belive in the president and not question his authority. Also who were the whiskey drinkers with blue tooth head sets? What was there motivation and who did they get involved with Logan? (we could go back to season one where powerful dark figures want to control the president, but it was explained that they had funded Palmer campaign). Why didnt the Russian just laylow for a few days then bring the Sentox to Mexico, or use the Sub? Run silent run deep?

I think the makers of 24 have boxed themselves into a corner, In order to keep up the action and suprise they have killed off some of the best loved characters, never more so than this season so they will have to bring on some cool figures soon, Perhaps Chase Edmunds will make a come back and rescue Jack from china, but even then, if you were just after escaping a goulag in China, would you be bothered if you went back to LA to stop a bomb or gas attack? no you would just disappear into the crowd.

All we can do is await season 6.
